Paint

The paint and finishing team at Calshot works across marine and architectural projects, providing a full range of surface preparation, coatings and decorative finishes. We combine traditional techniques with modern coatings to protect and enhance the underlying structure, always with a focus on durability and subtlety.

Our services cover spray painting, brushing, blasting, patination and wood restoration. We work closely with the yard’s fabrication, mechanical and joinery teams to ensure the finishing process complements and protects the work beneath it, without compromising on detail.

The Workshop

Calshot operates a dedicated in-house spray booth, as well as facilities for abrasive blasting and ultra-high-pressure water jetting for cleaning and coating removal. We also offer cold patination treatments for steel and specialist wood restoration techniques for heritage projects. Our aim is to deliver a finish that looks natural and unobtrusive while standing up to long-term use.

Project: Davenham

The restoration of Davenham included a full finishing programme by Calshot. The team prepared, primed and coated both steel and wood surfaces across the project, achieving a refined but understated finish that protected the structure and complemented the architectural design.

Ash Hayward & Barrie Salmon – Paint Supervisors

“Paint is the final layer, but it only works if everything underneath is right. Our job is to understand the materials and choose the right system to protect and finish them without hiding the work. The best paintwork lets the craftsmanship come through.”
