Fabrication

The fabrication shop at Calshot delivers a wide range of structural and fine metalwork for both marine and architectural projects. Our team works across mild steel, high-strength steel, stainless steel, aluminium and bronze, producing everything from complex architectural staircases to custom seating, tanks and structural elements.

Every job is approached with the same focus: clear planning, accurate cutting and forming, precise welding and disciplined finishing. We understand the practical and aesthetic requirements of every project and take pride in delivering work that holds up over time and feels right in its setting.

The Workshop

Fabrication at Calshot means working as part of a team. Our fabricators collaborate closely with the joinery, engineering and design teams to deliver parts that fit, function and last. The shop handles a full range of processes from cutting and forming to coded welding and finishing.

We specialise in the production of tanks, staircases, seating and bespoke metalwork. The yard itself is a reflection of the work we do, with original structures restored and new elements fabricated and installed by our own team.

Project: The New York Staircase

A sculptural steel staircase designed and fabricated by Calshot was shipped and installed in New York as part of a major architectural project. The structure combined sweeping curves with engineered strength, fabricated from rolled steel and detailed entirely in-house. It remains a landmark feature of the building and a clear example of the capability and precision of Calshot fabrication.

John Beeby, Fabrication Manager

“Fabrication is about problem-solving. Every job has its own demands and we never approach two projects the same way. Our job is to work out the most effective way to deliver what is needed, with as little fuss and as much accuracy as possible. If it looks simple at the end, we have done it right.”
